We celebrated our 11th anniversary at High Cotton, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Charleston. From the moment we walked through the door, we knew this place was different. Alpha, our host, welcomed us like we were old friends instead of first-time guests. He had such a genuine personality that it immediately set the tone for the evening. Throughout dinner he stopped by to chat, made us laugh, took a photo of my wife and me, and somehow had a printed copy waiting for us just a few minutes later as a parting gift. Who does that anymore? It was such an unexpected and thoughtful touch that turned a great dinner into a memory we’ll keep. Our server, Grayce, was absolutely fantastic. She was attentive without hovering, had excellent recommendations for everything from appetizers to wine, and made sure every detail was perfect. You can tell she truly enjoys what she does, and it made our anniversary feel special from start to finish. A big thank you as well to Z, the manager, who stopped by several times to make sure everything was going well. It’s always refreshing to see management so engaged and genuinely invested in their guests’ experience. As for the food… wow. Every single course was outstanding. The appetizers, wine, sides, entrées, and dessert were all exceptional. We kept saying, “Okay, this is our favorite,” only for the next dish to somehow top it. By dessert we had officially given up trying to pick a winner. High Cotton absolutely nailed what hospitality is supposed to be. Amazing food is one thing, but amazing people are what make you want to come back. The entire team made us feel celebrated, welcomed, and genuinely cared for. Needless to say, we’ll definitely be back. My only complaint is that they’ve now raised the bar high enough that every anniversary dinner has some serious competition.

We drove three hours to celebrate my birthday here, and it was absolutely worth it. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive. Our waitress was thoughtful and kind, and even though I was already completely full, they still prepared my birthday cake, placed a candle on the to-go box, and sent it home with me. That small, sweet gesture meant so much and truly made the night unforgettable. The food was phenomenal — easily the best dry-aged steak we’ve ever had. Even the shared plates were beautifully presented with elegant plating and attention to detail. A perfect birthday celebration from start to finish. Highly recommend, and we will definitely be back for our anniversary.

I celebrated my birthday last night at High Cotton, and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. The moment we arrived, we were welcomed into an atmosphere of true Southern elegance — warm, inviting, and beautifully refined. The service was outstanding. The assistant manager, Mark, personally checked on our table and made us feel genuinely valued. Our waiter, Paula, was phenomenal — attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional. She made sure every detail of our evening was perfect. We started with oysters that were fresh and delicious. For entrées, most of us had the filet, and each one was cooked flawlessly — tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. One of our guests ordered the shrimp and grits, which was equally impressive and full of rich, comforting flavor. The drinks from the bar were crafted beautifully and added an extra touch of luxury to the evening. The live band created a wonderful atmosphere, making the night feel even more special. Overall, High Cotton exceeded every expectation — exceptional service, amazing food, great drinks, and an elegant ambiance that sets the tone for a memorable evening. I couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate my birthday. Highly recommend!

OUTSTANDING. If we could rate it a 10, we would! Best meal in all of Charleston. We had brunch, trying a wide variety. Everything was excellent. And the service was top notch. Try the cinnamon bun, oysters, the grits, eggs Benedict with crab cakes, steak omelet and little gem salad. WOW.

Celebrated my honeymoon at this restaurant while in town and my wife loved our experience. Very delicious food and amazing cocktails. Best lobster mac n cheese I have had in a long time. Vibe here was lovely with the live music but it wasnt super loud or anything.

It lives up to the hype. Wonderful food and staff. Great service, good portions and a great value for the quality. We had brunch and enjoyed everything we ordered. The chicken and waffles where great but the crab cake benedict was the star of the show! Will be heading back any time we are visiting.

This place is now my top restaurant in Charleston! Apart from the delicious food, the big standout for us was the service. Our server, Carter, was so attentive, warm, and professional at the same time. He definitely helped elevate our experience by being personable and going out of his way to give good service. This helped create a relaxed but professional atmosphere that also felt high-end. For the food, a favorite was the she-crab soup, which had great flavor. We also had the yogurt for something lighter, and though it was good quality, there was just SO much yogurt in contrast to the amount of toppings, which felt a little unbalanced. The seared scallops were delicious, I just wish that their pimento cheese grits had more pimento cheese because it was barely there. The farmer’s omelet was slightly disappointing because it was very plain, but the sweet potato hash made up for it. Finally, their ginger nonalcoholic beverage was so good and had a strong but refreshing flavor. Even with these comments, we still very much enjoyed our meal and will happily return next time we are in town.

Dinner at High Cotton to celebrate Mother’s Day was such a beautiful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was elegant but still warm and welcoming, with gorgeous Lowcountry charm throughout the restaurant. The food was outstanding, from the crispy calamari and lobster mac & cheese to the perfectly prepared whole fish and Brussels sprouts. Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The service was attentive without feeling rushed, and the entire evening felt special. If you’re visiting Charleston and looking for a classic upscale Southern dining experience, High Cotton is absolutely worth it.

This is an excellent place for date night. They have live music at the bar. Strong tasty drinks. Our server Cassandra was excellent. She went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. I appreciate her being able to get me a dish that is no longer on the menu. Overall the food was amazingly delicious. We're going to try their sister restaurant Chop House next.

Had an amazing dinner at High Cotton in Charleston and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere was elegant and classic Charleston, and every course was beautifully prepared. We started with the seafood tower, which was incredibly fresh and presented over ice with oysters, huge shrimp, lobster, and tuna tartar. The oysters  sourced from South Carolina and Washington State was outstanding, and you could truly taste the quality. For dinner, the sea bass was one of the softest, most buttery fish dishes I’ve ever had — perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. The wagyu filet with béarnaise sauce was equally impressive, cooked perfectly with incredible flavor and tenderness. To finish, we ordered a flight of espresso martinis, an Angel’s Envy bourbon flight, and the peanut butter chocolate cake, which was rich and decadent without being too heavy. What made the experience even more memorable was the hospitality. The manager and chef personally checked on us multiple times throughout dinner and made us feel like regulars. We had rushed straight there from sightseeing and honestly didn’t even have time to dress up for dinner, but they treated us with the exact same warmth and attention as every polished, poised table in the restaurant. That level of hospitality really stood out. From the food to the presentation and service, everything felt high-end, welcoming, and thoughtfully done. Easily one of the best dining experiences we had in Charleston.
